Trump says he’d ‘love to see a shutdown’ if Dems won’t back immigration changes

President Trump told Republican lawmakers Tuesday that he would "love to see a shutdown" of the federal government if Democrats do not support his proposed changes to immigration law. Trump made the comments as GOP leaders raced to muster support for yet another stopgap spending bill that would keep the government open through March 23. Under a previous agreement, funding is scheduled to run out at 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The White House has proposed steep cuts in legal immigration and increased border security, including a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, in exchange for continuing protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. Democrats have balked at the proposals and forced a three-day government shutdown over the issue last mon...

President Donald Trump threatened a government shutdown if Congress did not act quickly to close immigration loopholes allowing MS-13 gang members to cross the border. “Frankly, I’ll go a step further, if we don’t change the legislation, if we don’t get rid of these loopholes where killers are allowed to come into our country … if we don’t change it let’s have a shutdown, we’ll do a shutdown,” Trump said. “It’s worth it for our country.” The president hosted a law enforcement roundtable on the threat posed by MS-13 gang members with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and other officials from the Department of Justice. “I’d love to see a shutdown if we don’t get this stuff taken care of,” Trump continued. Several members of Congress also attended — Reps. Le

Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said the Senate would move forward on immigration legislation “as soon as we figure out” what he said President Donald Trump would sign. When asked about immigration McConnell said, “I’m looking for something that President Trump supports, and he’s not yet indicated what measure he’s willing to sign.” He added, “As soon as we figure out what he is for, then I would be convinced that we are not just spinning our wheels going to this issue on the floor, but actually dealing with a bill that has a chance to become law and therefore solve the problem.” Surce:breitbart.com Read more trump news in our President Trump category on following link .

Tucker Spars With Professor Who Called Immigration Opponents ‘Ignorant’

Tucker Carlson debated a professor who said that if some Americans were less "ignorant" of the facts surrounding immigration, they would become more in favor of it. Ilya Somin, who teaches at the Antonin Scalia Law School of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., said not all immigration opponents are ignorant, but the majority are. He said that due to citizens' busy lives they do not have time to research statistics like comparative crime rates versus American citizens. Carlson said that in many immigrant-heavy areas like California and New York, the welfare states have bloated over the last several years. Somin responded that Texas is an example of a state with high immigrant populations but steady welfare and crime statistics. Carlson said that many immigrant groups...

Tucker Destroy Economist Who Says Immigration Is Good for the US Economy

Economist Ray Keating was one of nearly 1,500 economists who signed a letter to President Trump and congressional leaders saying immigration is good for the U.S. economy. The letter argues that immigrants have a positive effect on job creation by creating entrepreneurs who hire American workers, they offset the retirement of the Baby Boomer population, they bring in diverse skill sets that help companies grow, and they drive economic growth in job-creating industries like science and technology. Tucker Carlson debated Keating on Fox News Channel tonight, accusing him of making a "silly" assumption: that all immigrants are the same. Tucker Carlson and CT Gov Square Off on Immigration: ‘The President Can’t Order Us to Do Federal Work’

Yesterday, Connecticut’s governor, Dannel Malloy, made headlines by telling cops in his state they do not have to comply with the Donald Trump administration’s new requests to detain undocumented immigrants. (When current Vice President Mike Pence was the governor of Indiana, Malloy denounced him for rerouting refugee families from the state, so this isn’t very surprising.) On  Fox News this evening, Tucker Carlson went head-to-head with Malloy. “The President can’t order us to do federal work,” the governor said. “Quite frankly, the federal government should do its own job and get it done.” Carlson and Malloy continued to butt heads over the economic condition of Connecticut, but Malloy was insistent that it’s possible for him to care about the economy and current immigration
