And he just awarded the Medal of Freedom to three deserving people.

Trump on Thursday awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to retired professional golfers Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player, and posthumously to Babe Didrikson Zaharias, who died in 1956…
The three recipients Thursday will join Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Charlie Sifford and Tiger Woods as the only golfers to receive the award, according to NBC’s Golf Channel, which first reported Thursday’s award ceremony.

The Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest honor for non-military personnel. It recognizes Americans who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
Often, presidents will honor athletes, who have contributed to the country through their achievements. The contributions of these three golfers have excelled in the sport and inspired many.
Trump was recognizing them, including one who passed away, in order to celebrate their achievements.
Normally, these kinds of awards make front-page news, especially when Obama did it. But now, we can’t be sure the media will bother to report on it.
