What’s Happening:

President Trump opposed the recent “COVID relief” bill, as it provided more funds to foreign nations than regular Americans.

He demanded several changes, including $2,000 payments to Americans. Of course, Pelosi wanted to up the checks—but she ignored other vital changes the president requested.

Mitch McConnell stepped in to block a vote on the House’s changes. But he did it to include Trump’s other additions.

And now, he’s forcing the issue to get Democrats to do the right thing.

From Daily Wire:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) blocked a $2,000 stimulus check bill on Wednesday, saying that Democrats “quietly changed” what President Donald Trump wanted in the bill. He said Democrats were attempting “to let wealthy households suck up even more money,” and that they were trying to do away with a repeal of Section 230 and a review of the recent election…

“The Senate is not going to be bullied into rushing out more borrowed money into the hands of the Democrats’ rich friends who don’t need the help… We are going to stay smart, we’re going to stay focused, and we’re going to continue delivering on the needs of our nation.”

And then again on Thursday, Mitch blocked another attempt by Democrats to push the bill through the Senate. From Fox News:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell again blocked quick action on $2,000 coronavirus stimulus checks on the Senate floor Thursday as he traded harsh words with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

McConnell, R-Ky., in floor remarks lambasted the House-passed bill for $2,000 stimulus checks as “socialism for rich people.”

McConnell slammed the Democrats for blocking a COVID aid package for months because they wanted special tax cuts for the rich in blue states.

Now, they are trying to force through this new bill, hoping those same breaks are included.

He says they want to send “another boatload of cash” to people making $300,000 a year. Most of whom, he says, saw no disruption during this year’s many lockdowns.

(They no doubt tried to sneak this part through in their 6,000-page bill, hoping no one would see it.)

Ironic, huh, that the party who claims to be “for the common person” may be actually trying to bail out their rich friends?

Democrats have, for decades, accused Republicans of only caring about the rich. Yet it’s President Trump and Mitch McConnell who are trying to put everyday working Americans first.

Democrats, on the other hand, are being accused of wanting to keep their rich friends happy by restoring tax cuts they lost in Trump’s tax bill from 2017.

Was this all about keeping their rich donors happy?

McConnell says he’s seeing through their game and is letting them have it.

Do you support Mitch holding his ground or do you think he should accept the higher stimulus checks without Trump’s demands?
