What’s Happening:
After four years of putting Americans first, the White House is back in the hands of the D.C. elite.
But that doesn’t mean Donald Trump isn’t done working to make America great. He gave a farewell speech earlier in the week.
And as he readied to leave the office for good, he had some words of encouragement for his supporters.
And a new report suggests he may be making some seriously big plans. From Wall Street Journal:
President Trump has talked in recent days with associates about forming a new political party, according to people familiar with the matter, an effort to exert continued influence after he leaves the White House…
The president said he would want to call the new party the “Patriot Party,” the people said.
From Fox News:
With a possible eye towards a potential comeback in four years, outgoing President Trump told supporters that “we will be back in some form.”
Trump, speaking Wednesday morning at a farewell rally at Joint Base Andrews before boarding Air Force One for the last time as president on a flight to his home in Florida, told a crowd of family, friends, aides and supporters that “I will always fight for you” and that “we will see you soon.”
Agreeing to a peaceful transition earlier in the month, Trump now promises he is not gone forever.
He told his 75,000,000 supporters that he’ll “be back in some form.”
The “Patriot Party” would break from the traditional Republican Party and be headed by Trump and his close allies, according to reports.
Critics say such a move could ensure Democrats easy elections, as it would split conservative voters between it and the GOP. But considering the fallout of the 2020 Election, that might not be the case.
Trump did get 75,000,000 votes—that’s plenty of support to start his own party. And considering he’s won over people across Republican, moderate, and Independent lines—he just might be able to build a powerful third party.
If Trump started a new party, would you join it?
