What’s Happening:
Democrats enjoy a razor-thin majority in the House. Just a few seats separate them from a Republican takeover.
If they were smart, they’d hedge their bets and try to win back some of the seats they lost, right? Work with Republicans, win over swing-state districts, and really wow the country.
That would require showing Americans respect and putting our priorities first.
Nope! Instead, they are pushing a radical agenda that would bankrupt the country. First on the docket, unconstitutional reparations!

A House Judiciary subcommittee will host a hearing Wednesday to discuss the creation of a commission that would explore reparations for Black Americans, an idea long floated in Congress that has gained traction over the past year…
If passed, the bill would establish a commission to “examine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.”
The same Texas Democrat who wants to take away Americans’ guns and impose radical restrictions on the Second Amendment is also pushing reparations.
Sheila Jackson Lee is pushing a bill that would create a commission to decide if the government should take money from hard-working Americans and give it to others. Simply on the basis of their skin color.
The idea of reparations is built on the idea that modern-day Americans are responsible for slavery.
Jackson Lee, and those Democrats who support her, apparently live in a fantasy world where all white Americans are super-rich and racist. They seem to ignore the fact that most Americans, regardless of race, work very hard just to get by (especially right now).
The notion that some people “deserve” the money of others is the very opposite of our values as a nation. America is built on freedom and opportunity. Everyone can succeed, as long as they work hard.
Taking some people’s money and giving it to others, simply because of skin color, violates everything we stand for.
But Democrats are going to push it because they know it will win them votes.
Instead of finding real solutions to help Americans of all backgrounds, they want to pander to some Americans. Those who apparently don’t want to take responsibility for their lives, but want to rob others.
Can someone explain how this bill will “unite” the country? From all appearances, it will only divide us further. Perhaps divide us so far, that there will be no turning back.
Right now, the bill has support from 162 Democrats in the House. We’ll have to wait and see if it gets far.
