The U.S. Capitol is in lockdown in response to an incident potentially involving a shooting.
The official U.S. Capitol Police responded via Twitter with an update.
“CRITICAL INCIDENT: USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital,” they tweeted.

CNN’s Dianne Gallagher tweeted that the Capitol is locked down and that there was a shooting.
“The US Capitol is on lockdown. An announcement made over the PA system told everyone to stay indoors, and away from windows.. CNN’s @FoxReports seeing ambulances and a helicopter outside the building. One person was seen on a stretcher.”
DC Fire spokesman Vito Maggiolo says they are responding to a reported shooting at the north barricade of the Capitol and there are indications they will be transporting patients.

USCP says a suspect is in custody and both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.
The U.S. Capitol campus is locked down after D.C. officials say two people were shot.
D.C. Fire arrived at the Capitol for reports of two people shot. Their conditions are unknown and they are currently being transported.
USCP says no entry or exit is permitted at this time at all U.S. Capitol campus buildings.
Those already inside may move throughout the buildings but have been told to stay away from exterior windows and doors. Those outside have been told to take cover.
