After heated Twitter war with Sean Hannity, Jimmy Kimmel apologizes — now Hannity has responded

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel wants to bury the hatchet between he and Fox News host Sean Hannity, posting a length apology to his Twitter account on Sunday following a brutal Twitter war.

Hannity initiated the feud on Friday after taking issue with comments Kimmel made on his show last week, where he mocked first lady Melania Trump.

What did Kimmel say?

The late night TV host said that he had “fun” with the exchange with Hannity, but feels the need to apologize because “vitriol” — which he takes some blame for — is “harmful to our country.”

“Even in 2018, the vile attacks against my wife and wishes for the death on my infant son are shocking and I encourage those who made them to give their words and actions thought,” Kimmel wrote. “I, too, will give my words more thought and recognize my role in inciting their hatefulness.”

After his Twitter duel, Kimmel took fire from his own side for lewd homosexual he directed at Hannity, suggesting the Fox host and President Donald Trump are in a homosexual relationship.

In his statement, Kimmel also apologized for those comments.

“By lampooning Sean Hannity’s deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize,” Kimmel said.

Addressing the issue that sparked the feud, Kimmel said he believes Hannity was offended with his jokes about Melania Trump.

“Mrs. Trump almost certainly has enough to worry about without being used as a prop to increase TV ratings. I am hopeful that Sean Hannity will learn from this too and continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies and that he will triumph in his heroic battle against sexual harassment and perversion,” Kimmel wrote.

What did Hannity say?

He posted a screenshot of a news alert about Kimmel’s comments and said he will issue a lengthy response to Kimmel’s apology on his show Monday night.
