Tucker Carlson

Tonight, Tucker Carlson took on an activist who is protesting the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Marge Baker, executive vice president of People for the American Way, said she joined other activists on the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., because she has “real concerns” about Gorsuch and his record.

“We do need somebody who respects the Constitution and the law, and understands that they’re there to protect all Americans, not just the powerful and the wealthy and the corporations,” Baker said. “Unfortunately, Neil Gorsuch is not the right man for this job.”

She said their review of Gorsuch’s record shows that he’s a “friend of Wall Street” and he’s ruled against the interests of workers and women, pointing to the Hobby Lobby case that he was part of in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tucker said Baker may disagree with some of Gorsuch’s rulings, but he pressed her for any specific evidence that he is unable to be fair, objective and independent.

“The issue here is whether you have somebody who’s being nominated to the bench who understands a corporation and the laws of this country are for all of us, not just for the powerful and the wealthy and the privileged,” Baker said.

Tucker said he agrees with that, but said he thinks she’s “preemptively judging” Gorsuch.
