What’s Happening:
President Trump is going big before leaving the White House. We learned that he was issuing around 100 pardons just before the end of his term.
That’s more than most presidents gave out in their entire time in office!
But that’s not all. Trump has just signed a big final executive order—and it’s one that patriots will cheer.
Because it confronts a movement that saw many of our monuments torn down during the Summer. From Daily Wire:
President Donald Trump has announced the names of more than 200 Americans who will fill a new “National Garden of American Heroes,” which Trump said will override a “reckless attempt to erase our heroes.”
The garden, which does not yet have a location, will include famous scientists, like Jonas Salk, who developed one of the first successful polio vaccines; entertainment celebrities, like Alex Trebek, the longtime host of “Jeopardy!” who recently passed away; and sports stars, like heavyweight boxer Muhammed Ali.
Many of the names on the list include people who have yet to be memorialized in stone. That includes the beloved Alex Trebek, host of Jeopardy who passed away last year.
Trump said this garden is a direct response by those who vandalized and torn down statues over the Summer of last year. The garden will be a symbol of the “abiding love of country and lasting patriotism.”
A garden of statues that honor Americans can be something people will cherish for years to come. The list includes Americans from all walks of life, both men and women, from various eras of our history.
It would be hard for anyone to oppose such a monument, because it does not ignore the contributions of people of color and some lesser-known Americans.
How, where, and when this garden will be built remains to be seen.
