What’s Happening:
Polls said Democrats would dominate in the House. Instead, they lost seats, barely clinging to an ever-shrinking majority.
In fact, a leaked conference call revealed there’s plenty of conflict among House Democrats. Many blame the far-left for costing them moderate members.
But old Nancy has a problem. This woman still thinks she deserves to be Speaker for the next two years.
Really? This woman let down the country when she flip-flopped on impeachment. Worse still, she refused to negotiate to provide COVID relief to millions of Americans.
I don’t think she has enough Democrats to stay in power. And neither does Kevin McCarthy:
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., predicted Sunday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., won’t have enough votes to retain her top spot in January, declaring “it’s time America got a Republican Speaker of the House.”
… “When Pelosi went up for that vote two years ago, there were 15 Democrats who voted against her. Ten of those Democrats will be coming to Congress. Those 10 vote against her again, she will not be Speaker of the House.”
Republican McCarthy laid out a convincing case as to why Pelosi won’t get the votes to be Speaker.
To become Speaker, a congressperson needs 218 votes. Last time, 15 Democrats voted against Pelosi. Ten of those Democrats are coming back.
With the smaller majority, Pelosi might not have the votes to clinch the seat.
McCarthy even believes that if a few Democrats defect (considering there are Dems from red states, that’s very possible), a Republican like himself might have a shot at being Speaker.
It would be an unusual turn of events for sure: a Republican speaker with a Democrat majority. But hey, 2020 has been one unusual year.
Does that sound like a longshot to you? Keep in mind how badly Nance’s last run as Speaker has been. Under her leadership, House Democrats launched a divisive impeachment probe against the president.
She was unable to get control of the far-left wing of her party. She botched any attempts at producing police reform, right as Americans were demanding it.
And that’s to say nothing of her utter lack of leadership during the pandemic and blue state riots.
(Oh, and there’s that time she broke lockdown rules to get her hair done.)
Even Wolf Blitzer slammed the woman for her unwillingness to do what is right for the sake of Americans.
All it would take is a few smart Democrats and Nance’s reign is over.
Key Takeaways:
- Democrats lost seats in the House, but have a slim majority.
- Kevin McCarthy believes Pelosi does not have the votes to become Speaker again.
- Only a handful of Democrats are needed to elect a Republican speaker.
