President Trump and First Lady Melania held the annual governor’s ball last night where several governors spoke and President Trump let them all know he is very proud of the “incredible” job they do every day for their constituents.
Today Melania is hosting a special luncheon for the spouses of governors as they conclude the yearly Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Before Melania started speaking, she stepped up to the podium and called for a moment of silence and prayers for the victims of the tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The First Lady has dedicated her life to helping to nurture and protect children all over the world and that was her message to those in attendance.
“Before you leave to go back to your wonderful states and territories, I am asking you all to join me today and commit to promoting values such as encouragement, kindness, compassion, and respect in our children. In my role as First Lady, I want to nurture and protect the most valuable part of our society and our future: children. I hope you will all join me in my efforts and ask for your support.”
She let those in attendance know that her office will be reaching out to many of them in the future to schedule meetings to discuss how they can work together toward the same goal.
Being a parent herself, Melania can surely see there is a bigger need today, more than ever, to support and protect our children from the horrors of the world.
