For weeks, President Joe Biden and leading Democrats have touted their pricey infrastructure bill. The Biden administration wants to spend trillions on improving America’s core.
It’s a great idea in principle, but Republicans have pushed back against the legislation. They say most – reportedly more than half – of the funding doesn’t go to the infrastructure at all.
And as a result, the $2T bill might be DOA.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is one of several top GOP members who have called out Biden’s plan. They claim it simply costs too much, and would result in more taxes.
McConnell also believes the infrastructure bill would increase the national debt even more, and it already sits at a concerning $28 trillion.
So for all these reasons, Republicans are saying they won’t be lending their support to Biden’s bill. And that presents a definite problem.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that Republicns won’t go along with President Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan, a roughly $2 trillion proposal Biden proudly declared would be the largest ‘investment in American jobs’ in over seven decades.
According to Politico, McConnell clarified his party’s position when speaking at an event in Kentucky.
The GOP leader spoke about the long-term impact this legislation would have, and how it would negatively impact future generations, despite the Democrat claim that it would create jobs.
He flatly stated the bill wouldn’t “get support from our side,” because “the last thing the economy needs right now is a big, whopping tax increase.”
This comes less than a day after Biden fully detailed his infrastructure plan, which does allocate billions for shoring up our transportation and broadband systems.
However, as other sources have reported, it also includes plenty of funding for climate change agenda items. There are other leftist-oriented “pork” items as well, which many taxpayers don’t agree with.
In his comments, President Biden said the plan “rewards work” and “builds a fair economy.”
The problem is, Republicans believe it unnecessarily jacks taxes, puts a heftier strain on the economy, and includes far too much funding for the liberal agenda.
In other words, to many right-wing voters, it feels less about fixing America and more about playing politics. And much of the country is tired of that approach.
