Donald Trump’s campaign slogan – “Make America Great Again” – helped propel him into the White House in 2016. And since then, “MAGA” has become a rallying cry for right-wing citizens.

But as you might expect, incoming President Joe Biden won’t embrace the same slogan. In fact, he might end up promoting an altered version … and MAGA fans really won’t like it.

Biden himself didn’t come up with the idea, but he just might latch onto it.

It was proposed by the Los Angeles Times: the paper ran an attention-grabbing headline on Sunday, and Democrats might want to run with the idea.

Rather than “Make America Great Again,” the article focuses on one particular state in the country. And this state has been a leader in “progressive” policy for decades.

The Los Angeles Times ran a headline Sunday that is sure to grab the attention of Trump supporters everywhere: ‘Make America California Again? That’s Biden’s plan.’

That’s exactly the sort of phrase that will infuriate the right-wingers who supported Trump and his policies.

But it might be accurate. The paper mentioned that Cali has emerged as “the de facto policy think tank” for the Biden administration, and they will use California as “heavy inspiration.”

Furthermore, we shouldn’t forget who the Vice President is.

Kamala Harris might be hugely influential in Biden’s decisions. In fact, the paper spoke with former Democratic Governor Gray Davis, who said:

[Harris] will be in all the meetings and have the last word with the president after they are over.

She’ll be sharing ideas, innovations and breakthroughs from California that might help solve problems on the national level.

Of course, “Make America California Again” might not resound across the country, and some question the wisdom of the idea.

For example, we’re talking about a state that lost 135,600 residents between July 1, 2019 and July 1, 2020. That’s the third-largest migration loss ever recorded for The Golden State.

Then there’s the ongoing recall effort for the current California Governor: the “Recall Gavin Newsom” petition has amassed over 1.1 million signatures.

In other words, California has its fair share of problems right now. Many Americans don’t view it as a bastion of progress, or a shining example of The American Way.

But perhaps Biden’s supporters do still think California should be used as a role model for the rest of the country. And they’re the ones who would support a “Make America California Again” slogan.

It’ll be interesting to see if Biden runs with it, that’s for sure.
