Donald Trump’s taxes have been a topic of debate almost from the moment he stepped into the White House in 2016. And that issue just won’t go away.

Lawyers on both sides have now spent years in court, as Democrats continued to push for Trump’s tax information — they demand access to those records, and they believe the public should see them, too.

Now, the Supreme Court has just made an important decision.

Unfortunately, it didn’t go Trump’s way, though obviously the case has a long way to go.

Trump’s legal team had petitioned the high court to halt the turnover of his personal tax information to a New York prosecutor, as they contend such records should remain private.

But on Monday, the Court decided to allow the transfer.

And as expected, the former President isn’t happy with the ruling. He’s often fought to keep his tax records secure, and has further claimed they have no bearing on his political career.

From Fox News:

Former President Trump on Monday slammed the Supreme Court for declining to halt the turnover of his tax records to a New York prosecutor, calling it ‘a continuation of the greatest political Witch Hunt in the history of our Country.’

Trump has often called this extended case “a fishing expedition,” and Donald wasn’t afraid to vent his frustration at the ongoing probe.

As he said in a strong statement:

It never ends!

So now, for more than two years, New York City has been looking at almost every transaction I’ve ever done, including seeking tax returns which were done by among the biggest and most prestigious law and accounting firms in the U.S.

The former POTUS added that this “has never happened to a President before,” and it’s all fueled and controlled by his enemies.

Trump specifically cited New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the “totally Democrat location” (NY) as the reasons behind the tax case, and further said his opponents are “using the law as a weapon.”

Many wonder if this case is even necessary now, however.

With Trump gone from Capitol Hill, many citizens and taxpayers don’t believe the case holds much importance anymore. And obviously, most Trump fans have railed against it all along.

Lastly, the former President ripped New York City officials, saying they “don’t care” about the city’s serious problems, and are instead only focusing “on the persecution of President Donald J. Trump.”

Key Takeaways:

  • The Supreme Court ruled against a bid to halt the transfer of Donald Trump’s tax records to a NY prosecutor.
  • Trump responded immediately, calling it the ‘greatest political Witch Hunt in the history of our country.”
  • The former President also slammed New York officials, saying they’re ignoring their own problems and instead want to focus on persecuting Trump.
