Since kindergarten, children are taught to take a bath daily. When it comes to bathing and showering, there are people who even shower twice per day, believe it or not. However, there are those who don’t take a shower or a bath for days! However, it appears that when you skip a shower, you are more prone to certain negative effects. Let’s take a look:

Harmful bacteria and germs- the skin becomes a perfect environment for bacteria and germs which may overgrow as you don’t shower and build up on the skin.

Infections- these germs and bacteria will cause skin infections.

Dermatitis neglecta- if you don’t shower for a longer period of time, you may develop a skin condition known as dermatitis neglecta characterized by brown scaly skin patches.

Unpleasant odor- when you don’t shower or bath regularly, the body begins releasing an unpleasant smell.

Skin reactions- irregular showering may make the skin more prone to pimples, scaliness, and rashes.

In order to take proper care of your skin, you need to shower regularly, if possible, daily. This is especially the case for people who work out on a daily basis. However, long showers aren’t recommendable because prolonged exposure to water may remove all the oils from the body and the skin may become dry and flaky.
